José Henrique Padovani teaches composition, music theory, and computer music/sonology at the School of Music of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Currently, he is a faculty member of the Music Theory Department of the Federal University of Minas Gerais [UFMG] (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais) and a Collaborating Professor/Researcher at the Arts Institute of the State University of Campinas [Unicamp] (Campinas, São Paulo). He is a permanent member of the Music Graduate Programs of the School of Music of UFMG and of the Arts Institute of Unicamp, director of the Center for Contemporary Music Research (CPMC) of the School of Music of UFMG, and the artistic director of the ensemble imaginários sonoros focused on the collaborative conception, creation, production, and performance of artistic projects combining interactive music and digital arts.
His compositions were performed/recorded by groups such as The Arditti Quartet (Great Britain), Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra (Brazil), L'Arsenale (Itállia), Atlas Ensemble (Netherlands), Ostravská Banda (Czech Republic), Unicamp Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Camerata Aberta (Brazil), and Symphonic Orchestra of the Superior School of Music and Theater of Hamburg (Germany).
